Becoming great, having the relentless drive to be the best, can take you to a level where few understand what it is like to live that way. But it is the only way for you and risking losing some people along the way, while you hope it won't happen, may be a result of your drive. Don't alienate others, don't think less of them, or even better of yourself, just do what you need to do to achieve what you want and live the life you see for yourself. Your dedication and greatness will be there own reward.
