Wealth

Wealth...... what does it mean to you? What it means to be wealthy in my eyes is that you are financially secure, healthy, and happy/ spiritual/ family. If you lack anyone of these then your NOT wealthy. I have been dedicated to crossfit for the last 3 weeks because of what the games put in my face. What I haven't done is look at the other parts of my life that need work as well. What better time then NOW to put myself in a position to be wealthy in all aspects of life. keep me accountable, Lord knows I need it.

3 weeks down..11 months to go!

I have been committed to crossfit.com website for 3 weeks now. I made a pact with myself to do whatever the wod was and do it right and legit! It hasn't been easy! It seems that every WOD that comes up is something I use to avoid..... heavy dl, ohs, etc... it's as if Coach knows my weakness and is training me specifically for the games 09'! And you know what, I'm excited about it! Today's workout was "Jeremy" 21-15-9 OHS, Burpees. I have done OHS twice now in 2 yrs of doing crossfit... pathetic! A perfect example of an exercise that would show up in the WOD's and I would do something else instead. My time was 18min and 50 secs. I wanted to quit this workout so bad but I didn't because of the fact it is a hero workout plus I'm stronger(mentally) then that.

I'll leave you with this, after the games I made a comment about a "Premonition" that I had... crossfit had me smack dab in the middle of the 08' highlight video, after that IO mentioned to whomever was listening at the time, that it was a premonition for next year! Meaning watch out because I'm going to be a force to be reckoned with. Yesterday I was checking out my favorite Crossfit sites and as usual I checked in on NSC north santa cruz, and low and behlod the blog topic was "Premonition" with a picture of Big Mike and Myself doing "Fran" at the Games! I was speechless! take that for what it's worth, but for me, it brought a tear to my eye because I know the sky is the limit! peace!

.COM!

(carey and I in San Francisco 2008)

As I said in my previous post.. "i"m going to stick to the crossfit.com website and do whatever it says". I have done just that for the last 5 days. In doing so, it has created a piece of mind for me. I go to the gym and focus on what the WOD is all about, and then I rock it out. I even suprised myself the other day after the deadlift workout,.. I was reracking my weight and decided to attempt a few power cleans just to see if I could do it... I thought I had left 195# on the bar, and decided that would be the weight I would attempt. 5 attempts, 2 fails 3 good, but in all it felt good. I felt strong, and I definitely felt as though I could have possibly added 10#'s or more. Well, low and behold, it was 205# on the bar which is my PR, a weight I haven't attempted in over a year and half!

As for my food intake. I'm trying to get closer and closer to the Paleolithic Diet as the days go on. I'm still winging myself of dairy... milk, creamer, cheese, butter, etc... I've also cut back my bread intake to nil! My energy level is a little up and down with it right now because I'm not consuming enough calories, but I'm getting better at taking the time to eat meals in between meals.

Stay tuned it's only going to get better.........

Starting Over

The Crossfit Games 2008 have come and gone, and after it was all said and done I placed 136 out of 191 participants. As bad as that may seem, the difference between the top 40 and my 136 is only a few minutes! But to be honest, I was not prepared to go to the games and actually think I was going to place in the top 40, much less the top ten. My brother-n-law JT placed third overall with back to back gut wrenching performances to jump from 30th place to 11, to all the way to his final standing of third! Very proud of him!

As of right now, I'm going to start doing everything that Crossfit.com posts! I'm going to stop avoiding the heavy lifting exercises, run less but run hard when it comes up on the site, and really focus on doing all the lifts correctly. I'm going to stop cutting corners and stop being concerned with "fast times"! As the games showed me more then anything... do it right and do all your reps, or it don't count!!!! I promise to myself that I'll be more then ready for next years games and I promise to have a better showing, who knows, I might just win the whole thing!
